Murder in the Alps, Channel 4
A re-examination of the unsolved case of the murders of the Al-Hilli family and Sylvain Mollier a cyclist, in Chevaline on the 5th of September 2012. With the use of archive footage and interviews with victims’ friends and family, and those close to the investigation in France and the UK, this documentary revisits the police investigation, media reporting of this shocking crime story and explores a variety of theories that arose to explain it.
“Channel 4’s three- parter Murder in the Alps used many dramatic techniques: loud trepidation music, slow-motion reconstructions, ad-breaking cliffhangers. .. But it offered good solid interviewees, not armchair experts as is so often the case these days, including detectives from Surrey and France, plus Zaid himself, who, disconcertingly started laughing when asked if he killed his brother.
I recommend watching ahead as the unexpected twists and florid theories are gobsmacking”…The Times
